DEVIN TOWNSEND Announces New Terria Vinyl Pressing With A Bonus Track

Devin Townsend has teamed up with InsideOutMusic for a brand new pressing of his 2001 solo album Terria, due out June 14. The new pressings including the bonus track “Universal” on vinyl for the very first time alongside an 8-page LP-booklet, new liner notes, and archive photo material. Pre-orders are available here.

So that’s all Devin Townsend has going on right now, right? Hell no! First and foremost, Townsend was recently in the studio for a new project called Powernerd. According to Townsend in a recent video update, he gave himself 12 days to write the Powernerd songs, one day to rehearse, and two-and-a-half days to record. All we know is that Powernerd is “exceptionally heavy,” which is always good news when it comes to Townsend.

Powernerd was written with a very clear intent for me,” said Townsend. “I feel that I typically have been — and it’s not always been a bad thing — but I tend to overthink things a lot. And I get really complicated with things that sometimes… at least right now I felt like that wasn’t what I wanted to do, so I gave myself parameters for Powernerd.

“I gave myself twelve days to write it, and 1 day to rehearse it. Darby Todd came in from the UK and then two and a half days to track drums, bass and guitar. And if it was to not work it would have been a colossal failure. But I’m happy to say it’s exceptionally heavy, and exceptionally cool.”

Oh, and there’s new Casualties Of Cool in the works! Casualties Of Cool the collaboration between Devin Townsend and Ché Aimee Dorval, released their debut self-titled album in 2014, and is planning on bringing us all some more ambient country rock.

“Grateful to reconnect with Ché Aimee Dorval after all these years to start figuring out what the next album is about…” wrote Townsend on his Instagram in a recent post.

“Remember these little nuggets?” added Dorval. “Heading off to Devin Townsends today for a few days of writing the next Casualties record. So yes, it’s finally happening.”
