New Jersey hardcore band Gel recently announced a tour of the EU and the UK for later in this year. That could have just been referred to as an EU tour if Brexit hadn’t fucked that whole thing up already. Thanks again for nothing, Boris Johnson.
Before setting off for Europe, Gel will be playing three festivals in the US: Sick New World in Las Vegas on April 27, Welcome to Rockville in Daytona Beach, Florida on May 12, and Sonic Temple in Columbus, Ohio on May 17. After that they embark on a tour that kicks off in Barcelona, Spain on May 31 and continues through July 5-7 when they finish off at the Ieper Hardcore Fest in Ypres, Belgium. There’s no word on who, if anyone, will be opening for Gel on this tour.
Gel had originally planned to be on a US tour during this part of the year with along with Code Orange, who were to be the headliner, as well as Teenage Wrist and Soul Blind with Spy and Gridiron offering additional support on some tour dates. Unfortunately, that tour was cancelled by Code Orange, citing health concerns for their guitarist Dominic Landolina. In the Instagram post cancelling the tour, Code Orange writes:
“Our guitarist Dom has been dealing with serious health issues over the past year that have led to his inability to play, perform and live comfortably. While he gritted through our fall performances, his issues were exasperated by them.
“We wanted to give him proper time to heal before making a group decision, and were very hopeful he would be able to return by February. Ultimately its been determined that he is unable to play guitar at this time. We take this decision very seriously, and this is the last way we intended to start this era.”
Thus, much like with universal healthcare, people in the US is out of luck but everyone in Europe find themselves in luck. Tickets for the UK/EU are available on Gel’s website. Check out the complete list of dates below.
