This year’s looking like it’s gonna be a big one for stoner metal stalwarts and GRAMMY winners High On Fire, as not only will we be getting a new record, but they’re also planning to hit the road.
Earlier this month, bassist Jeff Matz was pictured holding two test pressings of the new album. With those in hand, that means the final version of the album we’ll all get in our hands isn’t too far behind. Matz said the pressings sounded great, warning fans that they’re going to enjoy the hell out of the band’s follow up to 2018’s Electric Messiah.
“I just listened to the vinyl test press of the new High On Fire album, it sounds incredible and I can’t wait for you all to hear it. Kurt Ballou and Alan Douches really helped make this a sonically striking piece of work.”
This new record will be the first with new drummer Coady Willis, who replaced Des Kensel when he left in 2019. To say we’re excited about whatever this so far unnamed album will be is an understatement.
Along with the news about a new album, the band recently announced an European and U.K. tour set for this summer. Now, American bands crossing the pond on the summer months ain’t nothing new, so this was kinda expected — especially with a new album coming out.
According to the band, the tour will kick off on June 4 in Brno, Czechia and come to an end on July 6 in Vienna, Austria. Along the way they’ll make stops in Spain, France, Denmark, Germany… really, a whole lot of places throughout the continent.
