Februus – Surveillance Orgy (progressive death metal)
This is some good progressive death metal. It’s also kind of weird, but not too weird. It’s got that kind of “cavernous” brutality that’s usually associated with 20 Buck Spin going on, but not all the time, kind of like Tomb Mold if they weren’t so bright and spacey now. It’s also all apparently the work of one guy, so that’s pretty impressive. I’m not sure whether I’ll remember it all that much after this week, but it’ll do for now.
Atavistia – Inane Ducam (symphonic blackened death metal)
This is some good symphonic blackened death metal. It reminds me a lot of Septic Flesh and even more of Dimmu Borgir, but maybe that’s just because they’re the two most obvious symphonic metal bands and I don’t really know what I’m talking about. It’s also very short and just kind of ends after a bit, which is odd. I don’t know. I’m tired. Does anyone even read these?
